Voor de linkse (en ik ben zelf links) neuzelaars die blijven beweren dat Achmadinejad nooit heeft gezegd dat hij Israel van de kaart wil vegen, en dat Iran echt geen gevaar is ("ze zijn nog nooit een oorlog begonnen"). Doorgaans dezelfden die beweren dat Hamas Israel best wil erkennen en er mee te onderhandelen valt (ik heb het even niet over Fatah)...

"How to Wipe Out Israel" wins Iranian book award

How to Eliminate Israel, a book written by a group seminarians in the city of Qom, was being promoted at the 13th book fair held in the north eastern Province of Khorasan Province, last week.

In an interview with RASA News, Hojjat ol’Eslam Mohammad Ebrahim-Nia, who headed up the team of writers, said: “How to Eliminate Israel won the Book of the Year award in the ‘soft war’ book category at the fair. Three thousand copies of this first edition of the 180-page book has been published by the Khorasan branch of the Ministry of Islamic culture and guidance. The book is seven chapters and it covers the Israeli mentality and weak points, the Israeli people’s crimes, warnings given to Muslims about the Jews in the Quran, and the effective methods of dealing with them. Also, other than current translations of relevant verses from the Quran, the book includes pictures of Zionists associated with the themes of the cited verses and relevant statements made by Jewish thinkers. The content and title of the book are based on religious rulings issued by Ayatollah Khomeini, who judged that the elimination of the State of Israel is a religious duty similar to other duties to which all Muslims are committed. The verses of the Quran which discuss the Jews are always applicable, and there is no other people about which the Quran warns the Muslims as much as the Jews, who continue their crimes against the Muslim nation.”

Ebrahim-Nia opined that there is generally a shortage of attention given to the struggle against Israel by the Iranian regime’s own institutions which should be considered the most dangerous enemy facing Muslims. He added: “The issue of Israel is evidently not a top priority for the government which is involved in dealing with other matters. I urge all young students and seminarians to turn the instructions of our Supreme Leader, regarding the adaptation of education of the seminaries to the needs of the society, into reality. If this is done, the enemy will know that the entire Muslim nation is committed to implementing the Supreme Leader’s instructions, and will not even dare threaten a military attack.”

In the original story at Raja News the book title is translated as "How Israel Should be Wiped Out."

But I'm sure that is simply a mistranslation. Middle East "experts" have vouched for the fact that Iran has no violent aims towards Israel.

 

Iraanse generaal uit laatste wens: Israel vernietigen

 

Terwijl De Pers in haar kruistocht tegen Israel met het cliché kwam dat Iran Israel helemaal niet wil vernietigen, spreken Iraniërs zelf duidelijke taal. Het laatste voorbeeld in een lange reeks van dreigementen en het in verschillende varianten uitspreken van de wens dat Israel spoedig van de aardbodem zal verdwijnen, is van een generaal in de Iraanse Revolutionaire Garde.

Hij is onlangs bij een mysterieuze explosie om het leven gekomen maar had nog een belangrijke laatste wens: op zijn grafsteen moest komen te staan: hier ligt de man die Israel wilde vernietigen.

Report: Explosion rocks Iran city of Isfahan, home to key nuclear facility

 

Semi-official Fars news agency says blast heard distinctly in several parts of the western Iran city; a uranium conversion plant near Isfahan went online in 2004.

An explosion rocked the western Iranian city of Isfahan on Monday, the semi-official Fars news agency reported, adding that the blast was heard in several parts of the city.

According to reports, frightened residents called the fire department after the blast, forcing the city authorities to admit there had been an explosion.Residents reported that their windows shook from the explosion's force.

Speaking to an Iranian news website, the government of Isfahan said that the explosion occurred as a result of a military drill, denying reports that the blast was somehow related to the nearby nuclear facility.

"There is no such thing, the blast was entirely from the military maneuver," the Iranian official said.

The Isfahan uranium conversion plant operates under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency, and is frequented by its inspectors and surveyed by cameras that broadcast to the IAEA headquarters in Vienna.

Thus, had the explosion occurred at the nuclear site, the UN's nuclear watchdog would have known of the incident.

Speaking with Fars news agency earlier Monday, Isfahan's deputy mayor initially confirmed the reports and said the authorities are investigating the matter. However, after the incident was reported in Israel, the report was taken off the Fars website.

It seems that city authorities and the Iranian government were embarrassed by the reports of a blasts, releasing contradictory versions of the alleged events. One example is a statement given by the same deputy mayor to the Mehr news agency, saying he had no reports of an explosion.

Another confirmation came from the head of the city's judiciary, who said an explosion-like sound was heard. Meanwhile, the Mehr news agency reported there has been a blast at a petrol station near the city. Another report pointed to a training accident.

The reported incident occurred about two weeks after Gen. Hasan Tehrani Moghaddam was killed together with 20 other Guard members Nov. 12 at a military site outside Bidganeh village, 40 kilometers southwest of Tehran.

The Revolutionary Guard said the accidental explosion occurred while military personnel were transporting munitions.

It should be noted that Iran operates a uranium conversion plant near Isfahan, one with an important function in the chain of Iran's nuclear program.

It first went into operation in 2004, taking uranium from mines and producing uranium fluoride gas, which then feeds the centrifuges that enrich the uranium.

Since 2004, thousands of kilograms of uranium flouride gas were stockpiled at Isfahan and subsequently sent to the enrichment plant in Natanz.

Commenting on the report of an explosion in Isfahan, U.S. State Department Spokesman Mark Toner said: "We don't have any information at this time other than what we've seen in the press as well. But certainly we're looking into it."

"As you know, we're somewhat limited in our ability to glean information on the ground there, but we're certainly looking into it," Toner added.

De situatie rond het islamitische Iran is zeer gespannen. Vandaag komt de International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) met een rapport over het nucleaire programma van Iran.

Volgens diplomaten bevat dit rapport aanwijzingen of bewijzen betreffende het militaire doel van het Iraanse nucleaire programma.

Kernkoppen
Daarmee zou het regime van de ayatollahs in staat zijn om kernkoppen te produceren voor langeafstandsraketten. Als dat gebeurt, is ook Iran een nucleaire militaire macht, net als China en de Verenigde Staten.

De afgelopen dagen waren diplomaten druk bezig met de Iraanse kwestie. Daarbij zijn ook inlichtingen uitgewisseld tussen verschillende landen.

Maar eerst moeten we een objectieve weergave van de feiten geven:

1.
Het Iraanse nucleaire programma dateert uit de sjah-periode. Het zou, onder Westerse supervisie, voor vreedzame doeleinden worden gebouwd. Het programma werd gestopt na de Iraanse revolutie, na het uitbreken van de oorlog tussen Iran en Irak. Na deze oorlog hervatte Teheran het nucleaire programma.

2. 
In de jaren negentig van de vorige eeuw stelde een aantal oppositiegroepen informatie beschikbaar waaruit zou blijken dat Iran met een aantal geheime nucleaire projecten bezig was. Dit leidde tot enige onrust in het Westen.

Daarom werd een diplomatieke missie gestart door de Verenigde Staten, Duitsland, Frankrijk, Engeland, China en Rusland. De zogeheten club van 5 plus 1. De permanente leden van de Veiligheidsraad van de Verenigde Naties plus Duitsland onderhandelden over een simpele zaak: Iran moest zijn nucleaire programma transparant maken en onder toezicht van de IAEA brengen.

3. 
De onderhandelingen waren nutteloos. Omdat uit andere geheime informatie bleek dat Iran bezig was met het verrijken van uranium. Uranium worden gebruikt bij het maken van een kernbom.

Het Westen vroeg Iran om tijdelijk te stoppen met het zelf verrijken van uranium, omwille van het wederzijdse vertrouwen. In ruil daarvoor zou Iran door Rusland of de Verenigde Staten worden voorzien van verrijkt uranium. Ook werd voorzien in een aantal aanmoedigende economische maatregelen. Teheran weigerde.

4.
Uit satellietbeelden is gebleken dat Iran nabij de stad Qum in een berg een geheime nucleaire site heeft gebouwd. Vanwege dit gedrag werd Iran door sancties getroffen. De VN-Veiligheidsraad heeft Iran in een aantal resoluties veroordeeld en gesanctioneerd voor dit gevaarlijke wangedrag. Nu komt ook de IAEA met een explosief rapport. Het Westen heeft nooit gezegd of geëist dat Iran moet stoppen met zijn nucleaire programma. Het land kreeg zelfs hulp aangeboden.

Tulband
Hoe nu verder? De eerste vraag luidt: voor wie is de ayatollah met een nucleaire tulband gevaarlijk?

Allereerst is dit regime levensbedreigend voor de Iraanse bevolking. Met een kernbom wordt het ayatollah-regime het islamitische Noord-Korea - en wordt het onaantastbaar.

De ayatollahs kunnen dan makkelijker en nog gewelddadiger optreden tegen de eigen bevolking. De wereld kan dan niets doen voor het Iraanse volk. Jammer, maar een nucleair bewapend regime kan niet zo maar worden bedreigd. 

Revolutie
Iran vormt ook een gevaar voor de Arabische landen. Al 33 jaar is het islamitische regime bezig met het exporteren van de revolutie. Een nucleair Iran is dan de supermacht van het Midden-Oosten. Hierdoor kan een wapenwedloop tot stand komen tussen Iran en Saoedi-Arabië: gevaarlijk en onwenselijk.

De nucleaire tulband vormt tevens een bedreiging voor de Amerikaanse troepen in het Midden-Oosten. Dit spreekt vanzelf. En Israël moet van de kaart worden geveegd, aldus de heersende doctrine in Teheran.

Koude oorlog
De nucleaire tulband is een existentieel gevaar voor de staat Israël. Daarmee wil ik niet zeggen dat Teheran bereid is om kernwapens af te vuren op Israël. Maar de koude oorlog die tussen Iran en Israël zou ontstaan, zou worden overschaduwd door de dreiging van een nucleaire oorlog. Een extreem gevaarlijke situatie die niemand wil in het Westen. Maar nog steeds de vraag: hoe nu verder?

Deze vraag ga ik niet in een keer beantwoorden, omdat er geen eenvoudige antwoorden zijn. Het gaat hier om de existentie van een staat en miljoenen levens die op het spel staan. In de komende dagen probeer ik stap voor stap de voor- en nadelen van elk scenario te bespreken.

Er wordt al jaren gespeculeerd over het Iraanse atoomprogramma en haar ambitie om kernwapens te ontwikkelen. De IAEA, die meestal nogal mild is tegenover Iran, zou nu informatie hebben waaruit blijkt dat Iran binnen een paar maanden een kernbom zou kunnen maken. Het rapport waarin dit staat is juist vrijgegeven, maar was al gelekt en haalde vandaag de journaals. Iran has been working toward building a nuclear weapon since 2003, according to a report released by the International Atomic Energy Agency and obtained by Haaretz on Tuesday.

The report, which was handed over to the 35-member states of the IAEA Board of Governors, details a series of tests, acquisition of materials, and technology that suggests Iran has continuously worked to produce a nuclear weapon since 2003.

A diplomatic source in Vienna told Haaretz that this is "the most damning report ever published by the IAEA and the conclusion arising from it is one: Iran is working to acquire a nuclear weapon."

"The agency has serious concerns regarding possible military dimensions to Iran's nuclear program," the IAEA said in the report, which included a 13-page annex with key technical descriptions of research.

Citing "credible" information, the Vienna-based agency said the data "indicates that Iran has carried out activities relevant to the development of a nuclear explosive device."

It added: "The information also indicates that prior to the end of 2003, these activities took place under a structured program, and that some activities may still be ongoing."

U.S. spy services estimated in 2007 that Iran had halted outright "weaponization" research four years previously, but also that the Islamic Republic was continuing efforts to master technology usable in nuclear explosives.

The IAEA report included information from both before and after 2003.

It expressed "particular concern" about information provided by two member states that Iran had carried out computer modeling studies linked to nuclear weapons in 2008-09.

"The application of such studies to anything other than a nuclear explosive is unclear to the agency," the IAEA said.

The information also indicated that Iran had built a large explosives vessel at the Parchin military complex southeast of Tehran in which to conduct hydrodynamic experiments, which are "strong indicators of possible weapon development."

For several years the IAEA has been investigating Western intelligence reports indicating that Iran has coordinated efforts to process uranium, test high explosives and revamp a ballistic missile cone to accommodate a nuclear warhead.

Iran, the world's No. 5 oil exporter, insists that its program to enrich uranium is for a future network of nuclear power stations to provide electricity for a rapidly growing population, so that it can export more of its oil and gas.

But Tehran's history of hiding sensitive nuclear activity from the IAEA, continued restrictions on IAEA access and its refusal to suspend enrichment -- which can yield fuel for atom bombs -- have drawn four rounds of UN sanctions, as well as separate punitive steps by the United States and European Union.

IAEA officials have often complained that Iran has refused, for at least three years, to seriously answer the agency's questions about accusations of illicit nuclear activity.

It details evidence, both direct and indirect, that Iran is actively working on all stages of a nuclear weapons program.

The summary:

52. While the Agency continues to verify the non-diversion of declared nuclear material at the nuclear facilities and LOFs declared by Iran under its Safeguards Agreement, as Iran is not providing the necessary cooperation, including by not implementing its Additional Protocol, the Agency is unable to provide credible assurance about the absence of undeclared nuclear material and activities in Iran, and therefore to conclude that all nuclear material in Iran is in peaceful activities.

53. The Agency has serious concerns regarding possible military dimensions to Iran’s nuclear programme. After assessing carefully and critically the extensive information available to it, the Agency finds the information to be, overall, credible. The information indicates that Iran has carried out activities relevant to the development of a nuclear explosive device. The information also indicates that prior to the end of 2003, these activities took place under a structured programme, and that some activities may still be ongoing.

The specifics are found in the annexes, which go through much detail on what is necessary to create nuclear weapons and specific evidence of how Iran is shown to be engaged in every one of those activities:

· Programme management structure

· Procurement activities

· Nuclear material acquisition

· Nuclear components for an explosive device

· Detonator development

· Initiation of high explosives and associated experiments

· Hydrodynamic experiments

· Modelling and calculations

· Neutron initiator

· Conducting a test

· Integration into a missile delivery vehicle

· Fuzing, arming and firing system

Intriguingly, the report alludes to some information that seems to have been obtained via espionage:

A Member State provided the Agency experts with access to a collection of electronic files from seized computers belonging to key members of the network at different locations. That collection included documents seen in Libya, along with more recent versions of those documents, including an up-dated electronic version of the uranium metal document.

Altogether, the IAEA has pieced together a very convincing - if sometimes irritatingly circumstantial - argument that Iran has been, and still is, actively working to develop nuclear weapons. 

 

Hamas en Iran: Israel moet vernietigd worden

"Our claim is freedom of Palestine, not part of Palestine. Any plan that partitions Palestine is totally rejected," Khamenei told the conference.

"Palestine spans from the river (Jordan) to the sea (Mediterranean), nothing less."

Khamenei also called Israel a "cancerous tumor" that should be removed.

Daarmee is voor de driehonderzevenentachtigste keer bewezen dat Iran wel degelijk uit is op de vernietiging van Israel, dat ene vertaalfoutje (dat nog steeds alom wordt gebruikt om dit te ontkennen) een paar jaar geleden ten spijt.

Hamas was het hier van harte mee eens:

"Palestinians must resort to resistance no matter how costly it is, until Palestine is free and Israel is destroyed," Meshal said.

Duidelijk, nietwaar? met zo’n club is het moeilijk onderhandelen.

Hamas leader Khaled Meshal told an international conference in Iran on Saturday that "resistance" was the only option left for the Palestinians.

Meshal was addressing the "5th International Conference in Support of the Palestinian Intifada" in Iran’s capital Tehran.

"Palestinians must resort to resistance no matter how costly it is, until Palestine is free and Israel is destroyed," Meshal said.

Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who also spoke at the conference on Saturday, assailed a two state solution for Israel and the Palestinians, saying the Palestinian bid for statehood at the United Nations is doomed to fail.

Khamenei told the conference, which was attended by other by senior Palestinian militant leaders as well as Mashaal, that the Palestinians should not limit themselves to seeking a country based on the pre-1967 borders because "all land belongs to Palestinians."

"Our claim is freedom of Palestine, not part of Palestine. Any plan that partitions Palestine is totally rejected," Khamenei told the conference.

"Palestine spans from the river (Jordan) to the sea (Mediterranean), nothing less."

Khamenei claimed that a two state solution would mean "giving in to the demand of the Zionists" and that it would "trample the rights of the Palestinian people" to live on their land.

Khamenei also called Israel a "cancerous tumor" that should be removed.

Hamas has repeatedly expressed its opposition to the Palestinian bid for statehood in the UN, led by Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. Last week, Gaza’s Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh accused Abbas.of relinquishing Palestinian rights by seeking recognition for a state in the pre-1967 borders.

"The Palestinian people do not beg the world for a state, and the state can't be created through decisions and initiatives," Haniyeh said. "States liberate their land first and then the political body can be established."

In werkelijkheid hebben verschillende Iraanse leiders het op veel momenten en in veel toonaarden en varianten gezegd, van uiterst expliciet tot iets minder expliciet zoals in het bewuste citaat. In reaction to the recent assassination of Iranian scientist Dariush Rezaiinejad, chief commander of the Basij Brigadier General Mohammad-Reza Naghdi stated:

The main plot for this criminal act was conceived by the American government, and since it is scared of the reaction by the Muslim world due to the uprisings in the region, it had the Zionist regime commit the heinous act.

In order to protect the security of our country, we have no option but to have the Zionist regime wiped off the map.

Naghdi, who was born in Iraq, was a member of the Iranian Quds Force involved in international terrorism before he was appointed by Ayatollah Khamenei to the post of commander of the Basij in 2009. He has previously threatened to assassinate American generals in retaliation for the killings of the Iranian nuclear scientists.

 

I could be wrong, but I think it is a violation of international law to threaten to destroy an entire nation.

The nuclear arms race in the Middle East is in full swing.

The world's global nuclear inspection agency, frustrated by Iran's refusal to answer questions, revealed for the first time on Tuesday that it possesses evidence that Tehran has conducted work on a highly sophisticated nuclear triggering technology that experts said could be used for only one purpose: setting off a nuclear weapon.

The disclosure by the International Atomic Energy Agency was buried inside a nine-page report on the progress of Iran's nuclear program. 

The agency gave some details in Tuesday's report on work that was apparently done on how to trigger a nuclear device, dating back to late 2003.

"The agency has not described these experiments to this detail before," said Olli Heinonen, the agency's former chief inspector.

The disclosure about the atomic trigger centered on a rare material — uranium deuteride, a form of the element made with deuterium, or heavy hydrogen. Nuclear experts say China and Pakistan appear to have used the material as a kind of atomic sparkplug.

The report said it had asked Iran about evidence of "experiments involving the explosive compression of uranium deuteride to produce a short burst of neutrons" — the speeding particles that split atoms in two in a surge of nuclear energy. In a bomb, an initial burst of neutrons is needed to help initiate a rapid chain reaction.

Harold M. Agnew, a former director of the Los Alamos weapons laboratory, said the compression of uranium deuteride suggested work on an atomic trigger.

"I don't know of any peaceful uses," he said in an interview.

Tuesday's report also gave fresh charges on the design of missile warheads. Documentary evidence, it said, suggested that Iran had conducted "studies involving the removal of the conventional high explosive payload from the warhead of the Shahab-3 missile and replace it with a spherical nuclear payload."

The Shahab-3 is one of Iran's deadliest weapons, standing 56 feet tall. In parades, Iran has draped them with banners reading, "Wipe Israel off the map."

Today, Al Arabiya reports that Saudi Arabia si planning to build no less than 16 nuclear reactors by 2030. The estimated cost is $300 billion. The official reason is "energy security" so as not to be dependent on oil...which it controls. 

The Saudi move almost certainly reflects the regimes' own nervousness at the potential that Iran will have nuclear weapons.

But the West has sanctions against Iran, so the problem will take care of itself, no doubt.

(The IAEA report also noted that Iran seems to have recovered from Stuxnet.)

Toentertijd werd Israel natuurlijk weer fel aangevallen om deze actie, ondanks verschillende aanwijzingen dat het om een in aanbouw zijnde kernreactor ging, met hulp van Noord-Korea (de meeste doden waren Noord-Koreanen). Maar nu wordt Israels gelijk andermaal bevestigd. De laatste zin van dit artikel is vreemd. Er staat immers verder niks over toestemming. Het gaat om een bericht van een half jaar later. Het ligt natuurlijk wel voor de hand dat Amerika ervan wist.

Weken voor het nieuws in het najaar van 2007 bekend werd, heeft Israël een kernreactor in Syrië gebombardeerd. Dat blijkt uit een diplomatiek bericht van de toenmalige Amerikaanse minister van Buitenlandse Zaken Condoleezza Rice uit april 2008. Het bericht is uitgelekt via de klokkenluiderssite WikiLeaks en vrijdag gepubliceerd in de Israëlische krant Yediot Aharonot.

Rice schreef in april 2008 dat Israël de reactor, die ,,kennelijk met hulp van Noord-Korea'' is gebouwd, op 6 september 2007 verwoestte. ,,Deskundigen van onze inlichtingendienst zijn ervan overtuigd dat het doelwit van de aanval van de Israëli's in feite een kernreactor is van hetzelfde type als die welke Noord-Korea in Yongbyon heeft gebouwd'', schreef Rice. Israël zou de reactor hebben aangevallen enkele weken voor hij in gebruik zou worden genomen.

De Amerikaanse regering had volgens haar goede redenen te geloven dat de installatie niet voor vreedzame doeleinden bestemd was. Rice wijst erop dat de regering in Damascus het Internationaal Atoomenergie Agentschap (IAEA) geen toestemming gaf de reactor te inspecteren.

Syrië heeft altijd ontkend dat het een kernreactor betrof, maar het gaf wel toe dat het om een ,,militaire locatie in opbouw'' ging. Israël op zijn beurt heeft nooit tegengesproken dat de luchtmacht een doel in Syrië had aangevallen, maar het heeft nooit officieel de verantwoordelijkheid voor de actie opgeëist.

George W. Bush, die in die tijd president van de Verenigde Staten was, schrijft in zijn memoires dat hij druk van Israël om de installatie te bombarderen, heeft weerstaan. Het bericht van Condoleezza Rice doet hierover nu twijfel rijzen.

Iran voorspelt al 5 jaar het einde van Israel

 

Dit even in reactie op de ambassade van Iran, die als volgt reageerde op de uitspraken van Wim Kortenoeven:

 

,,De oorlogshitsende, weerzinwekkende en racistische standpunten van de Vrijheidspartij (PVV, red.) kunnen in toenemende mate de geloofwaardigheid van Nederland ondermijnen'', stelt de ambassade. ,,Zo'n benadering zal het imago van Nederland in de ogen van verstandige mensen in de wereld besmeuren.''

 

Hoezo oorlogshitserij? Hoezo racisme? De haat tegen Israel, tegen de enige Joodse staat en de ideologie die deze staat mogelijk heeft gemaakt en ertoe heeft geleid dat Joden nu ook politieke en militaire macht hebben, is inderdaad weerzinwekkend.

Dat komt niet zo vaak voor helaas, dus laat het maar goed tot je doordringen. We weten natuurlijk niks zeker, maar zijn geregeld berichten tegengekomen die onderstaande bevestigen. Terwijl de media speculeerden over een Israelische aanval op Iran, en antizionisten het deden voorkomen alsof de Israelische bommen elk moment konden vallen, heeft Israel, zonder dat er een dode bij viel, het Iraanse kernprogramma twee jaar weten te vertragen. Daar hebben de antizionisten niet van terug, want tegen zo'n aanval is weinig in te brengen. Maar even voor de duidelijkheid: Israel ontkent alles.

JERUZALEM – De zogenaamde Stuxnetworm, die Iraanse computernetwerken in september trof, heeft de voortgang van het Iraanse atoomprogramma met zeker twee jaar vertraagd.

Dat stelde de Duitse computerexpert Langer dinsdag in een interview met het Israëlische dagblad The Jerusalem Post. „Het kost Iran zeker twee jaar om de draad weer op te pakken", aldus Langer telefonisch vanuit Hamburg. „Deze operatie was bijna even effectief als een militaire aanval, eigenlijk zelfs nog beter, want er zijn geen slachtoffers gevallen en er is geen totale oorlog uitgebroken. Vanuit militair perspectief was dit een groot succes."

Volgens Langer stuurt de Stuxnetworm nog steeds computers in de war in de Iraanse opwerkingsfabriek in Natanz en in de kerncentrale in Bushehr.

Vorige maand concludeerde het Internationaal Atoomenergie Agentschap ook al dat Iran een groot deel van zijn opwerkingsactiviteiten heeft stilgelegd, blijkbaar als gevolg van Stuxnet.

De Duitse expert meent dat Iran het beste alle besmette computers kan verwijderen, omdat er vrijwel geen ander middel afdoende tegen het virus kan worden ingezet. „Dit is het meest geavanceerde en aggressieve virus in de geschiedenis. Het is extreem moeilijk om apparatuur op te schonen, en we weten dat Iran daar niet goed in is."

Intussen groeit de speculatie dat de Israëlische Unit 8200, een speciale afdeling van de militaire inlichtingendienst, achter de cyberaanval op Iran zit.

Israël heeft steeds ontkend dat het is betrokken bij het verspreiden van de computerworm Stuxnet. Hoge officieren binnen het Israëlische leger bevestigden onlangs wel dat zij betrouwbare informatie hebben dat Iran forse technische problemen heeft met zijn centrifuges in de opwerkingsfabriek in Natanz.

Volgens expert Langer zijn de Verenigde Staten en Israël bij de verspreiding van Stuxnet betrokken. „Het moet jaren hebben gekost om dit te ontwikkelen. We hebben die conclusie getrokken door het analyseren van de worm. De code van Stuxnet is 15.000 regels lang – dat is enorm veel. Dat kan niet door een hacker zijn gedaan. Dat moet een land zijn geweest. En zelfs één land zou niet in staat zijn dit in zijn eentje te doen."
