We worden weleens een beetje moe van dit soort PMW berichten waarin keer op keer wordt gehekeld dat Palestijnse terroristen worden geëerd en als rolmodellen voorgesteld, geweld tegen Israel wordt verheerlijkt en de bevrijding van het heilige Jeruzalem gepredikt. We weten inmiddels wel dat voor de Palestijnse Autoriteit, en voor zo ongeveer alle Palestijnen, de gevangenen helden zijn, ook al, of beter gezegd, mede omdat, zij vele onschuldige Israeli's hebben vermoord in bloedige aanslagen.
Maakt dit een oplossing van het conflict onmogelijk of is dit natuurlijk gedrag van de 'zwakkere partij' die nou eenmaal geen tanks en F16's tot zijn beschikking heeft? Ik heb er weleens op gewezen dat dat laatste argument, vaak te lezen bij Meulenbelt c.s., niet opgaat omdat veel volken die in veel zwaardere omstandigheden leven en minder aandacht krijgen dan de Palestijnen, ook geen zelfmoordaanslagen plegen. Ook Nederlanders bliezen zich niet op in Berlijn tijdens WOII, en ook door de Joden zijn er nooit noemenswaardige pogingen ondernomen om zich op de Duitsers te wreken. En nee, de Joden hadden in Europa (in Palestina ook niet trouwens) ook geen tanks en vliegtuigen tot hun beschikking. Onder de Joden in Palestina waren een paar kleine radikale groeperingen voor terroristisch geweld, maar een grote meerderheid moest daar weinig van hebben. Het eren van zelfmoordterroristen is dus geen natuurlijk gedrag van een onderdrukte partij. Bovendien beschikken de Palestijnen over vele manieren en middelen om van zich te doen horen en de druk op Israel op te voeren, gezien de internationale sympathie voor hun zaak .

Palestinian Authority TV has twice broadcast a music video honoring terrorist prisoners, including Ibrahim Hamed, serving 45 life sentences for orchestrating suicide bombings at Hebrew University (9 killed), Cafe Moment (12 killed), Cafe Hillel (7 killed), and Abbas Al-Sayid, serving 35 life sentences for planning the suicide bombing at the Jewish Passover Seder in Netanya (30 killed), and others.
The video opens with a speech by PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas calling for the release of all Palestinian prisoners:
Abbas: "We will not rest until all [prisoners] are freed, and the prisons are emptied."

The video then highlights seven specific terrorists by flashing pictures of them. Those chosen to be highlighted include terrorists serving many life sentences for murder.
The band that produced the video, the Alashekeen band, was named a Palestinian national band by Abbas in 2010.
Palestinian Media Watch has documented that glorifying terrorists and turning them into role models for Palestinians is ongoing PA policy.

Ibrahim Hamed - serving 45 life sentences for orchestrating suicide attacks in Israel that killed more than 60 civilians, including the suicide bombings at Hebrew University (9 killed), Cafe Moment (12 killed), Cafe Hillel (7 killed), Zion Square in Jerusalem (11 killed), and others.
Abbas Al-Sayid - serving 35 life sentences for planning the suicide bombing at the Jewish Passover Seder in Netanya in 2002, in which 30 Israelis were killed. He was also responsible for a suicide bombing in Netanya in 2001 in which 5 people were killed.
Yasser Abu Bakr - responsible for a terror attack in Netanya in 2002 in which a nine-month old baby and an adult were killed.
Nasser Awais - serving 14 life sentences for planning terror attacks in which 13 civilians were killed, including an attack at a private Bat-Mitzva celebration and the killing of a baby in 2002.
Fuad Al-Shubaki - serving 20 years for involvement in the Karine A Affair in 2002, in which 50 tons of illegal weapons were found aboard a Palestinian ship.
Ahmad Sa'adat - serving a 30-year sentence for heading the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine terror organization. He has also been honored in broadcasts on PA TV for having planned the assassination of Israeli Minister of Tourism, Rehavam Ze'evi, in 2001, but has not yet been tried for that crime.
Marwan Barghouti - serving 5 life sentences for orchestrating suicide terror attacks against civilians.
