Iran is totaal anders.

Iran "will respond with full force" to any attack − or even any threat of military action − the country's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, told students at a Tehran military college Thursday.

"The enemies, especially America and its stooges and the Zionist regime (Israel), should know that it is not Iran's custom to invade any country or nation. But it will respond with full force to any aggression or even threats in a way that will demolish the aggressors from within," he said, according to a statement on his official website.

Iran ups the ante

http://elderofziyon.blogspot.com/2011/11/iran-ups-ante.html

FARS news reports that a senior Iranian official is threatening World War III if Iran is attacked:

Responding to a question about Iran's capability to target Dimona nuclear facility in the occupied Palestinian territories, Iranian Armed Forces Deputy Chief of Staff for Cultural Affairs and Defense Publicity Brigadier General Massoud Jazayeri told Al Alam News Network that the center "is the most accessible center to Iran", and stressed that Iran enjoys the capability even to target areas farther the nuclear plant.

As regards a possible US or Israeli military aggression against Iran, Jazayeri underscored, "Our capabilities and our defensive tactics will definitely make the enemies, including the US and the Zionists, repent (their action)."

"The US or any other regime may initiate a war, but definitely they will not be the side who ends it," he underlined, and stated, "Iran can manage any military move."

Last night, a senior member of the Iranian Parliament's National Security Commission warned that Israel would find itself in war with Iran in Tel Aviv streets if it dared to attack the Islamic Republic.

"Israel is not in the size to launch a military strike on Iran, but if it takes such a foolish action, the Iranian militaries will fight with the Zionist soldiers in Tel Aviv streets and will force them out of the Palestinian soil," member of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Seyed Hossein Naqavi told FNA on Tuesday.

Naqavi also warned that in case Iran comes under a military attack, the battlefield won't be Iran, but "the entire Europe and the US".

"Iranian forces will fight with the enemies with maximum might and power all throughout the European and US soil, if Iran comes under attack," he reiterated.

And Iran's Supreme Leader says that Iran will attack even if it feels threatened:

Iran "will respond with full force" to any attack − or even any threat of military action − the country's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, told students at a Tehran military college Thursday.

"The enemies, especially America and its stooges and the Zionist regime (Israel), should know that it is not Iran's custom to invade any country or nation. But it will respond with full force to any aggression or even threats in a way that will demolish the aggressors from within," he said, according to a statement on his official website.

Another Iranian "expert" was quoted in PressTV:

He said Israel is more vulnerable in difficult times "because even if Israel fires 100 missiles at Iran it will not even displace a few Iranian families" but four ordinary Iranian missiles are enough to make one million Zionists flee.

Lancet nonsense

http://elderofziyon.blogspot.com/2011/11/lancet-nonsense.html

From The Lancet:

Everything one can say about the health-care system in Palestine was summed up by the physician and political leader Haidar Abdel-Shafi in the wake of the Oslo Agreement in September, 1993. He said: “We cannot take care of health and education as long as we live under occupation”.

...[N]ow, as the Palestinian Authority waits to hear whether the UN Security Council will back its bid for full membership, the situation is much the same. Israel has used health and medicine as an instrument of control and oppression of the Palestinian people and leadership in the occupied Palestinian territory throughout the years since 1967. We at Physicians for Human Rights—Israel conceive this situation as a disease for which the cure is the total removal of control by Israel over the Palestinians. There is no way that a future Palestinian state, if there ever is one, can handle the health-care system (or any other socioeconomic system) if the Israeli occupation and control continues.

Is it really impossible to build and support a healthcare system while under "occupation"?

Then it must be truly miraculous that somehow, before 1948, Jews who were under Ottoman and British occupation managed to build so many medical centers:

Bikur Holim Hospital (1826)
Shaarei Tzedek Medical Center (1902)
Hadassah Hospital (1934, but earlier medical facilities as early as 1913)
Rambam Hospital (1938)
Beilinson Hospital (1936)

These were all built  right under the noses of their occupiers!

I believe that Zionists even managed to put together a few major universities while under British occupation. Yes, while the British controlled all imports and exports for Palestine, border control, access to roads and every other aspect of life in the area, somehow these institutions were built - and without the help of billions of dollars from NGOs and other countries.

I know, I know...it is impossible. My history must be very, very wrong.

Volgens Arabische kranten is heel Jeruzalem bezet

Arab newspapers call ALL of Jerusalem "occupied"

http://elderofziyon.blogspot.com/2011/11/arab-newspapers-call-all-of-jerusalem.html

The Jordan Times is owned by the Jordan Press Foundation - which is majority owned by Jordan's government, making it a government newspaper.

The Jordan Times routinely changes the dateline of wire service stories from "Jerusalem" to "Occupied Jerusalem" - even when the story has nothing to do with any part of Jerusalem that Israel won in 1967.

They aren't the only English-language Arab newspaper to do so; we see the same in the Daily Star Lebanon, Khaleej Times, Bahrain News Agency, Oman Tribune, and Al Arabiya (although the latter is inconsistent.)

When Israel asserts that contested areas will remain under Israeli control, the world freaks out. But these daily Arab assertions that supposedly uncontested areas are "occupied" - even from a country that has a peace treaty with Israel - elicits not a peep of protest from any Western nation.

Straten in Oost-Jeruzalem moeten namen kiezen

The Jerusalem Post
East Jerusalem roads to be named
By MELANIE LIDMAN
11/02/2011 05:10
http://www.jpost.com/NationalNews/Article.aspx?id=244056

For 1st time since 1967, more than 100 streets in e.J'lem will receive official names; move expected to help solve mail delivery, other problems.

The combination of east Jerusalem's lack of urban planning and epidemic of illegal building has led to a chaotic maze of crowded streets that lack names and recognition, creating a nightmare for residents trying to do everything from receive a letter to call an ambulance. But for the first time since 1967, more than 100 streets in east Jerusalemwill receive official names recognized by the municipality as the first step of a year-long process to officially name all of the streets in east Jerusalem.

The Beit Hanina-Shuafat region is the first neighborhood in the program to assign official names to streets. Hussam Watad, the director of the community council of Beit Hanina, said the neighborhood submitted a list of more than 100 street names, almost all of the streets in the neighborhood.

Most of these streets already had names that the residents used but were not officially recognized.

City Councilor Meir Margalit (Meretz) who holds the east Jerusalem portfolio, estimated that there are at least 1,000 unnamed roads in east Jerusalem and the process of assigning names will take at least a year.
In the first round, the community council at Beit Hanina was given aerial photographs and asked to assign names to the highlighted roads.

"There's a double meaning to this," said Margalit. "First, that they're giving names to the streets, there's a message: We want to recognize that you exist. If there were no names, the underlying message is that we don't recognize you," he said. "Secondly, there's a political meaning, that the municipality is not deciding for them what's good or what's bad," but allowing residents to choose their own names, said Margalit.

The Committee for Municipality and Public Names, which approves street names, will meet at the end of November to officially approve the list of names. Unofficially, roughly 95 percent of the names on the list submitted by Beit Hanina were accepted, with a few exceptions for names the municipality deemed too political.

Watad stressed that the neighborhood choose "parve" names, in this case referring to neutrality, so as not to provoke controversy. "We tried to stay away from political names because our goal isn't to argue with the municipality, we want to solve the current problem that residents are suffering from," Watad said.

For streets that had no historical names, the committee chose pleasant names like "happiness," "patience," "love," the names of Muslim prophets, or capitals of Arab countries. One of the few names that is not expected to pass is the "Naji Al Ali Road," named after the famous Palestinian cartoonist, as the municipality found some of Al Ali's cartoons anti-Semitic.

"It will be great for firefighters and paramedics who will be able to know how to get to specific areas, because if there's a name it's much easier," Watad said.

Though Watad said he disagrees with Jerusalem mayor Nir Barkat's political opinions, he praised him for finally realizing a project that residents have been requesting for years.

Part of the pressure to give names to the streets comes from within the city. It's difficult to serve residents with no addresses summons to appear in court or send them fines for parking violations. Sometimes important court documents would be sent with the address "Tzur Baher 0000, Jerusalem," said Margalit.

While the street names will go part of the way toward solving the mail crisis in eastJerusalem, the biggest problem with the deficient mail service is the lack of Post Office branches in east Jerusalem, said Margalit and Watad. Next Wednesday, the High Court of Justice will hear a petition from the Association for Civil Rights in Israel (ACRI) over the mail distribution problems in east Jerusalem.

ACRI attorney Keren Tzafrir said that mail deliveries to east Jerusalem are so chaotic that in the east Jerusalem neighborhood of Issawiya, mail is delivered to local convenience stores, but not always the same one.
Residents only learn if they have mail if they happen to enter a store where the employees remember there is a letter waiting for them.
In response, the Postal Authority said that three post office branches have opened in the past three years in eastJerusalem, in the neighborhoods of Jebl Mukaber, Beit Hanina and Silwan.

"In some areas of eastJerusalem there are objective limitations that make it difficult for the Israel Post to continue to improve the service for residents," said Postal Authority spokeswoman Merav Lapidot.

Lapidot said that despite repeated requests to the municipality to clarify the street names, the mail carriers struggle with the lack of street signs, often relying on local knowledge to try to locate the residents.

"It's clear that the distribution of mail to places without addresses is an irrational task," she said.

Anti-semitism on PA TV

http://elderofziyon.blogspot.com/2011/11/anti-semitism-on-pa-tv.html

From Palestinian Media Watch, quoting PA TV:

The golden dome [of the mosque] shines with colors of the sky, with the white of clouds, while the joyous holiday [Eid Al-Adha] is good to the residents. The light rain cleanses the steps of the foreigners [Jews] so that the feet [of Muslims] in prayer will not step on impurity.

The program helpfully show a clip of religious Jews while talking about the "foreigners' impurity."

Isn't it great that Allah sends rain so that fervently devout Palestinian Arabs can play soccer on the Temple Mount - using the Dome of the Rock as a goal - without their feet stepping on impurity?

Not to mention - volleyball:

Hezbollah slowly taking over Lebanese army - and planning new kidnappings

http://elderofziyon.blogspot.com/2011/11/hezbollah-slowly-taking-over-lebanese.html

Mako reports an analysis by the Northern Command of the IDF on the latest from Lebanon.

According to IDF sources, the number of Shiites who are joining the Lebanese army has dramatically increased in recent years. In the past, the senior command was dominated by Christians but now some 40% of them are Shiite, and a majority of  junior officers are also pro-Hezbollah.

Also, while most of the Christians in the army are deployed in the central part of the state, the Shiites are concentrated towards the Israeli border.

Moreover, there has been a recent increase in the expansion of villages in southern Lebanon near the border with Israel. This trend intensified in the last year and a half, and many new buildings can be identified within a few hundred yards from the blue line. "Of course some of this expansion is natural, but there are exceptions where some structures we know are not innocent," said an IDF source. "There are more patrols in vehicles belonging to Hezbollah, more observations and more buildings used by the organization."

The reason is to make it easier to kidnap Israeli soldiers and hide them quickly. Even though Hezbollah has not made recent kidnap threats the way Hamas does, it is clearly still part of its strategy. The Northern Command says it is on the alert for such a scenario.

http://www.elsevier.nl/web/Opinie/Afshin-Ellian/321806/Hoe-gevaarlijk-zijn-de-nucleaire-ayatollahs.htm

woensdag 9 november 2011 09:58

Israelis saving the world - again

From Israel21c:

As we get older, modern medicine will help more of us live with cancer rather than die from it. That's the assumption behind a vaccine to treat cancer, being developed by a pharmaceutical company in Israel.

Vaxil BioTherapeutics' main product, ImMucin, is now in advanced clinical trials at Hadassah University Medical Center in Jerusalem.

CEO Julian Levy tells ISRAEL21c that this therapeutic vaccine doesn't prevent cancer from invading, but activates and enhances the body's natural immune system to seek and destroy cancer cells already present in the body, such as those lingering after cancer surgery.

Malignant cells normally get out of control by tricking the immune system not to notice them, a strategy that works especially well in older people because immune systems get less efficient with age.

The vaccine is currently being tested against a blood cancer called multiple myeloma. However, Vaxil's scientific breakthrough is based on a drug platform, VaxHit, which can be tailored to treat not only 90 percent of cancers, he says, but also diseases such as tuberculosis.

This disease is cropping up in developing nations as existing vaccines are proving less and less effective.

"Two billion are affected by the pathogen," says Levy. "Ten percent will develop the active disease. And while TB can be treated by drugs, it takes several months and it can be brutal."

According to Levy, the vaccine presents no side effects, and can be taken indefinitely, like vitamins. ImMucin is designed to overcome cancer cells that mutate, rendering other drugs ineffective.

Depending on the outcome of clinical trials, the ImMucin vaccine could be ready and marketable within the next six years. It could have major implications for the treatment of leading killers like prostate and breast cancer.

A promotional video by Vaxil can be seen here.

Remember, BDSers, to demand your doctor not use Israeli products when treating your loved ones for deadly diseases. By using Israeli products to save the lives of the ones you love you are helping to promote the worst human rights abuses known to man. You wouldn't want to do that. It would be evil and wrong. Wrong, wrong, wrong!

Instead, consider the medical benefits of camel urine. This wonderful technology is being pushed by a country that is not nearly as oppressive as Israel.

IAEA report: Iran has been working toward nuclear bomb since 2003

http://www.haaretz.com/news/middle-east/iaea-report-iran-has-been-working-toward-nuclear-bomb-since-2003-1.394422

Report by UN nuclear agency says Tehran continously worked toward a nuclear weapon since 2003; diplomatic source in Vienna tells Haaretz: 'This is the most damning report ever published by the IAEA.'

By Yossi Melman

Iran has been working toward building a nuclear weapon since 2003, according to a report released by the International Atomic Energy Agency and obtained by Haaretz on Tuesday.

The report, which was handed over to the 35-member states of the IAEA Board of Governors, details a series of tests, acquisition of materials, and technology that suggests Iran has continuously worked to produce a nuclear weapon since 2003.

A diplomatic source in Vienna told Haaretz that this is "the most damning report ever published by the IAEA and the conclusion arising from it is one: Iran is working to acquire a nuclear weapon."

"The agency has serious concerns regarding possible military dimensions to Iran's nuclear program," the IAEA said in the report, which included a 13-page annex with key technical descriptions of research.

Citing "credible" information, the Vienna-based agency said the data "indicates that Iran has carried out activities relevant to the development of a nuclear explosive device."

It added: "The information also indicates that prior to the end of 2003, these activities took place under a structured program, and that some activities may still be ongoing."

U.S. spy services estimated in 2007 that Iran had halted outright "weaponization" research four years previously, but also that the Islamic Republic was continuing efforts to master technology usable in nuclear explosives.

The IAEA report included information from both before and after 2003.

It expressed "particular concern" about information provided by two member states that Iran had carried out computer modeling studies linked to nuclear weapons in 2008-09.

"The application of such studies to anything other than a nuclear explosive is unclear to the agency," the IAEA said.

The information also indicated that Iran had built a large explosives vessel at the Parchin military complex southeast of Tehran in which to conduct hydrodynamic experiments, which are "strong indicators of possible weapon development."

For several years the IAEA has been investigating Western intelligence reports indicating that Iran has coordinated efforts to process uranium, test high explosives and revamp a ballistic missile cone to accommodate a nuclear warhead.

Iran, the world's No. 5 oil exporter, insists that its program to enrich uranium is for a future network of nuclear power stations to provide electricity for a rapidly growing population, so that it can export more of its oil and gas.

But Tehran's history of hiding sensitive nuclear activity from the IAEA, continued restrictions on IAEA access and its refusal to suspend enrichment -- which can yield fuel for atom bombs -- have drawn four rounds of UN sanctions, as well as separate punitive steps by the United States and European Union.

IAEA officials have often complained that Iran has refused, for at least three years, to seriously answer the agency's questions about accusations of illicit nuclear activity.

The IAEA report on Iran's nuclear weapons ambitions is released

http://elderofziyon.blogspot.com/2011/11/iaea-report-on-irans-nuclear-weapons.html

The IAEA report on Iran's nuclear program has been released.

It details evidence, both direct and indirect, that Iran is actively working on all stages of a nuclear weapons program.

The summary:

52. While the Agency continues to verify the non-diversion of declared nuclear material at the nuclear facilities and LOFs declared by Iran under its Safeguards Agreement, as Iran is not providing the necessary cooperation, including by not implementing its Additional Protocol, the Agency is unable to provide credible assurance about the absence of undeclared nuclear material and activities in Iran, and therefore to conclude that all nuclear material in Iran is in peaceful activities.

53. The Agency has serious concerns regarding possible military dimensions to Iran’s nuclear programme. After assessing carefully and critically the extensive information available to it, the Agency finds the information to be, overall, credible. The information indicates that Iran has carried out activities relevant to the development of a nuclear explosive device. The information also indicates that prior to the end of 2003, these activities took place under a structured programme, and that some activities may still be ongoing.

The specifics are found in the annexes, which go through much detail on what is necessary to create nuclear weapons and specific evidence of how Iran is shown to be engaged in every one of those activities:

· Programme management structure

· Procurement activities

· Nuclear material acquisition

· Nuclear components for an explosive device

· Detonator development

· Initiation of high explosives and associated experiments

· Hydrodynamic experiments

· Modelling and calculations

· Neutron initiator

· Conducting a test

· Integration into a missile delivery vehicle

· Fuzing, arming and firing system

Intriguingly, the report alludes to some information that seems to have been obtained via espionage:

A Member State provided the Agency experts with access to a collection of electronic files from seized computers belonging to key members of the network at different locations. That collection included documents seen in Libya, along with more recent versions of those documents, including an up-dated electronic version of the uranium metal document.

Altogether, the IAEA has pieced together a very convincing - if sometimes irritatingly circumstantial - argument that Iran has been, and still is, actively working to develop nuclear weapons.
