De Palestijnen hebben zich helemaal niet neergelegd bij een staat op de Westoever en de Gazastrook, zoals velen ons willen doen geloven. PA TV, schoolboeken en media claimen heel Israel als Palestijnse staat en roepen soms zelfs op dit met geweld te 'bevrijden'.

Contrary to the PA leadership's claim that they recognize Israel's existence, their controlled TV and cultural events continue to reinforce the message of non-recognition of Israel, by their ongoing depiction all of Israel as "Palestine."
This week a PA TV program for teenagers included a short video clip which opened with the words "Palestine: We will return one day to our home..." across the screen, and then followed with a series of pictures of cities and regions in Israel, with the names on the screen, including: Tel Aviv, Haifa, Galilee, Negev, Caesarea, Acre, and Jerusalem. PA TV also showed a picture of Masada but incorrectly labeled it "Jericho mountains."
The picture of the Galilee, though not labeled, was of the ancient Synagogue in Capernaum. The Christian Bible cites the Capernaum Synagogue as a place where Jesus taught on the Sabbath. [Luke 4:31-37]
After showing the Israeli cities and regions, the PA TV host said:

At a recent Fatah event in the presence of Mahmoud Abbas and many other senior PA officials, a Palestinian singer defined Palestinian land that "I am returning to" as spanning from Rosh Hanikra, in Israel's north, to Rafah in the Gaza Strip in the South, and from Haifa, on Israel's Western coast to Beit Shean on Israel's Eastern border.

'Israel absent or only negative presence in PA textbooks' In examples, Jews demonized, martydom praised, Jewish Quarter removed from Old City map, Hebrew erased from Mandate-era stamp. The Palestinian Authority still has a long way to go before textbooks in its schools begin to teach true coexistence with Israeli Jews, according to findings from a study released Tuesday.
The Institute for Monitoring Peace and Cultural Tolerance in School Education (IMPACT-SE), which reviews textbooks from Israel, the Arab world and Iran, unveiled its 2011 report on PA school textbooks in a briefing with journalists at the headquarters of MediaCentral, in Jerusalem.
The organization reviewed 118 textbooks currently used in Palestinian schools – 71 of which are for students in grades one through 12, and 25 that are taught in religious schools in the West Bank and issued by the PA Ministry of Wakf and Religious Affairs.
IMPACT-SE also examined 22 teacher guides distributed by the PA Ministry of Education and Higher Education. While all of the reviewed textbooks were approved by the PA, they are also taught in schools in Gaza.
While respect for the environment and sustainable energy resources are taught to Palestinian students, IMPACT-SE found that textbooks blame Israel for all environmental problems.
"There is generally a total denial of the existence of Israel – and if there is an Israeli presence it is usually extremely negative," said Eldad Pardo, an IMPACT-SE board member, and head of the organization's Palestinian textbook research group. "For the next generation, there is no education at all about collaboration and no information about the many collaborations that already exist between Israelis and Palestinians in environmental and other areas."
In geography textbooks, Israel usually does not appear in maps of the Middle East, instead "Palestine" is shown to encompass Israel, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. Jaffa is also shown on maps of Palestine, but Tel Aviv and other predominantly Jewish cities, such as Ramat Gan, kibbutzim and moshavim, are not displayed.
One of the Palestinian textbooks reviewed by IMPACT-SE, History of Ancient Civilization, published in 2009 and used to teach fifth-graders, states that the Levant consists of the states of Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria. Israel is not mentioned.
Other textbooks read for the study asked students to "color the Negev Desert on the map of Palestine," and to solve the following mathematical word problem: "An independent Palestinian state was declared in 1988. How many years have passed since the declaration of independence?"
Another textbook included a map of the Old City of Jerusalem – which did not contain the Jewish Quarter. Meanwhile, in an additional example, a textbook printed a British Mandate postage stamp, but erased the Hebrew inscription "Palestine: The Land of Israel" that appeared on the original.
In addition, some textbooks described the Canaanites as an Arabic-speaking people whose land was stolen by Jews, and stated that Jews came from Europe to steal Palestine after the British conquered it in 1917.
Pardo, a professor at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, also said Palestinian textbooks have been erasing Jewish claims to holy sites, such as the Western Wall and Rachel's Tomb. For example, National Education, a textbook for seventh-graders published in 2010, refers to the Western Wall as the "Al-Buraq Wall," and to Rachel's Tomb as "Al-Bilal Mosque."
IMPACT-SE also found that Palestinian textbooks include many references to martyrdom, death, jihad and refugees returning to cities and towns in Israel – and frequently demonize Israelis and Jews. A photo from the funeral of a shahid (martyr) was included in the 2008 edition of a seventh-grade textbook, but excluded from the 2010 edition, perhaps because of foreign pressure on the PA, said Pardo.
Other textbooks told students that "the rank of shahid stands above all ranks," and included a Muslim hadith about the destruction of Jews by Muslims on the day of the resurrection, which also appears in the Hamas charter.
IMPACT-SE noted many Palestinian textbooks included references to a ribat, an outpost on the borders of Muslim territories where wars against infidels occur. A 12thgrade Islamic education textbook, published in 2010, tells students that "the people of the Levant in general, and in Palestine in particular," are in a state of ribat until the day of resurrection.
Pardo said that while there are some positive developments in the Palestinian educational system, such as emphases on democratic values and respect for women, elders and authority – no Israeli is depicted as a friend or partner. Furthermore, the Oslo Accords are rarely mentioned, and political agreements in general are presented as resulting from Arab and Muslim weakness.
"A textbook is the result of a policy – something created by a committee and a formal product of an entity – and this policy is creating public opinion and the public mind of the coming generation," said Shelley Shandor Elkayam, CEO of IMPACT-SE. "The whole Talmud is based on the Jewish philosophy that the other is more interesting than yourself. You have to care about what others say. The Tunisians accept this and they teach it to their students. The PA definitely should reach that point one day, and it is up to us to bring them to this realization."
According to IMPACT-SE, which will release a report on Israeli textbooks in July, the bulk of funding for PA textbooks and other initiatives comes from the EU. Most US aid for Middle Eastern education goes to Egypt, but some also goes to the PA.
Yohanan Manor, IMPACT-SE's chairman, noted that one of the PA's recent history textbooks printed two maps that referenced Israel, although the name of Israel was in tiny print. Some Palestinian educators have admitted that the Arabs rejected the 1947 UN partition resolution, which is also an important development, he said.
Manor said IMPACT-SE will send its findings to Lamis al-Alami, the PA's education minister.

Wouter _______________ A pro-Palestinian group said Thursday that one of its activists, an Italian, has been kidnapped by Islamic militants in Gaza. It would be the first kidnapping of a foreigner since Hamas overran Gaza in 2007.
A video claiming to show the victim emerged from Gaza along with a demand by an extremist group to the Hamas government to release its leader, who was arrested last month. The group set a deadline of Friday afternoon, threatening to execute the hostage.
Huwaida Arraf, co-founder of the International Solidarity Movement, said the abducted man in the video appeared to be one of its activists. She identified him as Vittorio Arrigoni, 36, from Italy.
The video shows a man with a thick black blindfold and a large bruise on his face. Apparently seated, he is held in front of the camera by an unseen person.
In a message on the video, the extremist group that calls itself Monotheism and Holy War demanded that Hamas free its leader, arrested in early March, and two other members whose names had not been previously known.
Sheikh Abu Walid-al-Maqdasi, the leader of the group, was arrested in a crowded beachside neighborhood of Gaza City last month.
The Italian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that it was aware of the kidnapping, was in touch with Arrigoni's family and was taking steps to ensure his safety. "Foreign Minister Franco Frattini is in touch with diplomats in the country and is following the situation with great attention," the statement said.
The Hamas government said only that it was checking the accuracy of the reports.
Hamas itself is a fundamentalist Islamic group, but it faces challenges from even more extremist offshoots of Islam, including Walid-al-Maqdasi's group, that take inspiration from al-Qaida and the world jihad movement. Hamas has denied that al-Qaida has a presence in Gaza.
Kidnappings of foreigners were common before the Hamas takeover. Most of those abducted were foreign correspondents, including Alan Johnston of the BBC, who was abducted and held for 114 days before being freed in July 2007, just after Hamas overran Gaza, expelling forces loyal to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
"Arrigoni has not been heard from in the past 24 hours," Arraf said. In the past, all kidnap victims have been released unharmed.
ISM operates in the West Bank and Gaza and is known for trying to prevent the Israeli military from carrying out its missions. Arraf said this activist has been going in and out of Gaza for more than two years. He was working with farmers and fishermen.
The ISM incident that got the most attention was the 2003 death of American activist Rachel Corrie, who was crushed by an Israeli military bulldozer in southern Gaza while trying to block its path.

Na het vernietigende bombardement van Rotterdam gaven de Nederlanders zich over, waarna de nazi's onze democratie en rechtstaat afschaften.
Vooral vanaf 1943 kwam er steeds meer gewelddadig verzet tegen de nazi's: spoorwegen werden opgeblazen, bevolkingsregisters overvallen, collaborateurs en hoge Duitse militairen werden geliquideerd.
e Duitsers reageerden vaak beestachtig op deze verzetsdaden. Zo is bijvoorbeeld bijna de hele mannelijke bevolking van Putten in 1944 naar verschillende concentratiekampen gedeporteerd nadat het verzet een aanslag had gepleegd op Duitse officieren. Bijna niemand van hen kwam terug.
Ondanks fouten die ons Nederlandse verzet heeft gemaakt, vochten ze voor het goede: ze vochten voor de terugkeer van de vrijheid en democratie. Bovendien richtten ze zich op militaire objecten: Duitse soldaten, tanks en opslagruimten van wapens.
Duitse kinderen, die er ook weinig aan konden doen dat iemand als Adolf Hitler in Duitsland aan de macht was gekomen, waren - vanzelfsprekend - geen doelwit van het Nederlandse verzet.
Palestijnse terrorisme
Hoe anders dan ons Nederlandse verzet opereren daarentegen de radicaal-islamitische terreurbewegingen. Op 4 oktober 2003 liep de 28-jarige net afgestudeerde advocate Hanadi Jaradat het Maxim-restaurant in de Israëlische stad Haifa binnen. Daar blies ze zichzelf op. Maar liefst 21 personen, Joden en Arabieren, werden vermoord. Onder de doden waren drie kinderen van 4, 9 en 11 en een baby van net 2 maanden.
De recente bomaanslag op een bus in Jeruzalem was op een woensdagmiddag, duidelijk zo gekozen omdat er dan veel schoolkinderen in de stadsbussen zitten. Vorige week was er een raketaanval op een schoolbus. Enzovoort enzovoort.
Onzinnig
In niets lijken de Nederlandse verzetstrijders dus op de 'strijders' van Hamas en andere Palestijnse terreurorganisaties. Hoe bruut en hoe gewelddadig de Duitsers vaak waren - denk aan het hierboven genoemde voorbeeld van Putten - nooit is een Nederlandse verzetstrijder met 5 kilo explosieven op zijn lichaam een Duitse school binnengewandeld om zichzelf daar samen met onschuldige kinderen op te blazen. Tussen de jaren 2000 en 2005 bliezen daarentegen 134 Palestijnse 'strijders' zichzelf op te midden van Israëlische vrouwen en kinderen, resulterend in 603 onschuldige slachtoffers.
Er is nog een groot verschil tussen het Nederlandse verzet en Palestijnse 'strijders'. Het Nederlandse verzet vocht tegen de nazi-ideologie, en voor vrijheid en democratie. Hoe anders zijn Hamas en soortgelijke organisaties. Die vechten net als Al-Qaida voor de vestiging van een islamitische staat waarin democratie niet past, vrijheid van meningsuiting niet bestaat, vrouwen en ongelovigen tweederangsburgers zijn en homosexuelen worden opgehangen.
De nieuwe nazi's
Al-Qaida en Hamas - waarop ruim de helft van de Palestijnen heeft gestemd in 2006 - hebben een op het nazisme gebaseerde ideologie. Hamas is immers voortgekomen uit de Moslim Broederschap, opgericht in 1928, niet toevallig tegelijk met de opkomst van de nazi-partij.
De eerste leider van de Palestijnen, de grootmoefti van Jeruzalem Al-Hoesseini, was dan ook vanaf het begin een fervent aanhanger van zowel de Moslim Broederschap als het nazisme. Zijn islamitische jeugdbeweging heette 'de nazi-padvinders'. In de Tweede Wereldoorlog heeft deze Jodenhater zich schuldig gemaakt aan vele nazi-oorlogsmisdaden. Zo wierf hij duizenden moslim-soldaten voor de Waffen-SS en zond duizenden Joodse kinderen richting de gaskamers.
Wat zijn dan de belangrijkste ideologische overeenkomsten tussen nazisme en Hamas?
1. Het negeren van democratie. De ideologie is belangrijk, mensenrechten of de mening van de bevolking niet.
2. Het militarisme en de keuze voor gewelddadige oplossingen. Artikel 8 van het handvest van Hamas zegt: "Jihad is de manier, en de dood voor God de mooiste der wensen."
3. De verbondenheid met de bodem. Gebied dat ooit islamitisch was kan nooit meer iets anders zijn. Artikel 9 van het handvest van de Hamas stelt: "Palestina is islamitisch land, bedoeld voor moslims tot de Dag des Oordeels. Dit geldt voor Palestina en alle andere landen die de moslims met geweld veroverden, want hierdoor zijn deze landen geheiligd voor moslimgeneraties tot het einde der dagen."
Dat geldt wat Hamas betreft uiteraard voor het hele grondgebied van Israel, Israel moet dus vernietigd worden. Maar dit geldt dus ook voor bijvoorbeeld Spanje, dat ook ooit bezet was door moslims en dus volgens Hamas ook heroverd worden voor de moslims.
4. Jodenhaat doordrenkt de ideologie. Zo zegt artikel 7: "De dag de Oordeels komt niet totdat moslims alle Joden ter dood hebben gebracht."
Dat is duidelijker dan hoe het in Mein Kampf stond. De drijfveer is helemaal niet 'verzet', maar haat.
Haat zaaien
Von der Dunk gaat in zijn opiniestuk op 11 april 2011 niet in op onze stelling dat door het vergoelijken van de moord op Israëlische kinderen hij zich schuldig maakt aan haatzaaien. Dat is hij blijkbaar met ons eens. Maar hij staat er achter, want hij beschouwd het als "legitiem gewelddadig verzet" tegen kolonisten.
Letterlijk zegt hij: "bevrijding van nationale onderdrukking gaat zelden zonder onfris geweld, omdat de 'legale' weg niets oplevert. Dat gold al voor de thans zo gevierde Nederlandse Opstand tegen de Spanjaarden".
Ridicuul
Dat is om vier redenen baarlijke nonsens:
1. Niet alleen 'kolonisten' zijn het doelwit. Integendeel, veel vaker zijn andere Israëlische burgers het slachtoffer.
2. Het geweld is vrijwel uitsluitend en welbewust gericht tegen Israëlische burgers. Dat is per definitie een oorlogsmisdaad.
3. De Palestijnen zijn niet meer bezet. 100% van de Palestijnen in Gaza en 98% van de Palestijnen op de Westbank leven in autonoom gebied, onder eigen Palestijns bestuur, met eigen Palestijnse kranten, televisie, onderwijs, rechtspraak, politie enz.
4. De Palestijnen hebben nu juist in ruil voor die autonomie in de Oslo-akkoorden het geweld afgezworen en beloofd dat een oplossing van het conflict uitsluitend via vreedzame onderhandelingen zal worden gezocht.
Dus Von der Dunk manipuleert. Zo komt hij ook opnieuw met een citaat uit een Israëlisch dagblad om te 'bewijzen' dat Israel alle Palestijnen haat: "Vind ze. Dood ze ter plekke. Dit ongedierte moet worden geëlimineerd". Volgens Google is de correcte vertaling van het citaat: "Er is geen noodzaak om diegenen die de Fogels vermoord hebben te arresteren. De wezens die deze dierlijke daad hebben gedaan, moeten ter plekke gedood worden. "
Het ging dus niet over de Palestijnen in het algemeen, maar over barbaarse baby-halsafsnijders, en ook die worden geen ongedierte genoemd. Von der Dunk noemt zich in het artikel 'historicus', maar volgens ons zijn er historici voor lichtere geschiedvervalsing ontslagen.
Volkomen tegengesteld
Over geschiedvervalsing gesproken,onze verzetstrijders vochten legitiem, tegen militairen. Echter het geweld dat organisaties als Islamitische Jihad en Hamas toepassen is een oorlogsmisdaad, omdat dit geweld zo georganiseerd is dat bewust juist en alleen onschuldige burgers worden vermoord. En bovendien is het geweld van de Palestijnse terroristen erop gericht om een islamitische staat te vestigen die haaks staat op datgene waar onze verzetstrijders voor hebben gevochten, namelijk vrijheid en democratie.
Het gepland, welbewust en doelgericht vermoorden van burgers is geen "legitiem verzet" en mag nooit zo genoemd worden. Het is moord. Palestijnse terroristen zijn dus brute moordenaars en het is een belediging voor onze Nederlandse verzetstrijders om hen daarmee te vergelijken.
