Het adviescomité van de UNRWA, de VN organisatie die speciaal voor de Palestijnse vluchtelingen in het leven is geroepen, houdt op 11 juni een bijeenkomst. Uiteraard zal de vraag niet aan de orde komen hoe er een einde kan worden gemaakt aan het Palestijnse vluchtelingenprobleem, anders dan door de ireële eis een VN lidstaat te overspoelen met de meer dan vier miljoen vluchtelingen om deze zo van binnenuit over te nemen.
Deze vergadering wordt voorgezeten door Syrië, een waar licht onder de naties waar het mensenrechten en behandeling van minderheden betreft. De Arabische staten hielden afgelopen weekend alvast een voorbereidende bijeenkomst, om te voorkomen dat ook maar iets besproken of besloten kan worden dat tegen hun belangen indruist. De belangen van de vluchtelingen zijn daaraan geheel ondergeschikt.

Damascus, (SANA - Syrian news agency) - The coordination meeting of Arab countries hosting Palestinian refugees discussed on Sunday the state of refugees, the UNRWA's work, and the need to take a unified Arab stance in the upcoming meeting of the UNRWA Consultation Committee which will be held in Damascus on June 11th.
The meeting included delegations from Lebanon, Egypt, Jordan, Palestine and the Arab League. The meeting's agenda includes discussing the UNRWA's report to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and the letter from the Consultation Committee which will be directed to the UNRWA.
The meeting also discussed a statement project on partnership and the recommendations regarding the UNRWA support conference which was held in Geneva in 2004, in addition to discussing the UNRWA presentation on the agency's plans on occasion of the 60th anniversary of the occupation of Palestine and studying the agency's services and financial state.
Other issues included administrative reform and recommendations of the subcommittee on strategic choices for 2010-2015.
The UNRWA Consultation Committee will hold its meeting in Damascus on 11 June, chaired by Syria with the participation of delegations representing 24 members and observers.
Palestinian refugees in Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, the West Bank and Gaza Strip are estimated at 4,349,946 according to the UNRWA statistics conducted in March 2004. These refugees await the international community to act and apply UN Decision 194 that guarantees their right to return to Palestine and receive compensation.
Palestinians living in Gaza Strip have been suffering for a year under a siege imposed by Israel.
